 project “Towards a Material-Oriented Theory of History”\, which is  
 \nfunded by the Volkswagen Foundation\, aims to reconceptualize how
 historical   \ndisciplines understand the past by engaging with ongoing
 debates in the   \nphilosophy of science—particularly in physics—about
 ontological models of   \nthe physical world. The project is grounded in
 the assumption that our   \nunderstanding of the past is greatly shaped by
 our perception of the material   \nworld and the attendant theories. This
 exploratory interdisciplinary workshop   \nbrings together historians\,
 philosophers of science\, physicists\, and   \ntheorists of history to
 rethink the ontology of the past. Building on recent   \ndevelopments in
 the philosophy of physics\, quantum mechanics\, and new   \nmaterialism it
 explores how contemporary understandings of physical reality   \ncan
 inspire innovative ways of conceptualizing historical phenomena. \n \nThe
 event will take place on 9 June (2 pm to 6 pm) and on 10 June (9 am to 6
